Why was brochure printed elsewhere?

So I got this nice tri-fold little booklet thingy from Rep. Walt Minnick in the mail the other day. It was real pretty, full color on glossy paper. I read through it and it was all about our congressman looking for ways to get Idaho working again.

Then I saw the back page where it said, “This mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense.” Nice. Sorry Mr. Minnick, but I ain’t too hot about giving you my tax money so you can turn around and spend it on telling me how you are going to try to get me a job.

Part of it said that Minnick has authored a new “initiative” that’s going to offer training to prepare Idahoans for high-tech jobs of the future. Sounds great, right? Maybe, if you don’t mind him spending your tax dollars to do something the government should have no part in. Now you can argue with me all you want — all I’m saying is that it’s not government’s job to use our tax dollars to offer job training.

Minnick has also been busy directing his staff to “reach into every community to help with issues ranging from assistance with unemployment benefits to refinancing loans to applications for small business loans.” Again, this sounds good, but stop and think, “Why is government giving business consultation and offering loan assistance when government itself is so broke it couldn’t buy chewing gum without a loan?”

Minnick obviously doesn’t know how to, or doesn’t care to, spend Idaho’s money in a responsible or constitutional way and therefore is unfit to serve as our representative.

P.S.  This mailing was not prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense.
