Johnnie R. Painter, 63, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at the Baptist church at Second and Main streets in Clark Fork, Idaho.

Johnnie was born June 13, 1946, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Charlie and Buelah Painter. He married Patricia Cox on June 4, 1966.

Johnnie grew up and farmed in the Cabinet Flats area of Clark Fork. He was an authority on the history of the area.

He worked for Ruen Drilling for several years after his children were grown.

Johnnie enjoyed spending time with his family and considered his wife, Pat, his best friend. He was a great mechanic who could fix or invent anything, and was dedicated to everything he did.

 He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, growing things and horses.

He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and was a wonderful grandpa.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Pat Painter of Moyie Springs, Idaho; his son, Randy (and Nicole) Painter of Fallon, Nev.; his daughter, Penny (and George) Thompson of Troy, Mont.; his sister, Mollie Woelk of Newport, Wash.; his mother, Buelah Thompson of Paradise, Mont.; his grandchildren, John Painter and Miranda Painter of Clark Fork, and Amie Henley, Tawnya Thompson and Zeke Thompson of Troy,; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Painter; and two sisters, Donna and Frances.
