Buratto erupts for 41 points in loss
POST FALLS — Shooting guard Stefan Buratto exploded for a career high 41 points to lead Sandpoint, which played arguably its best game of the season in a tough 94-75 overtime loss to Post Falls in nonleague boys basketball Wednesday night at Post Falls High School.
Buratto continues to emerge as one of the top offensive weapons in the Inland Empire League, if not the entire state. Blaine Shultz added 15 points, all in the second half, as the Bulldogs (2-4) had a lengthy shot at the buzzer to win the game in regulation and pull off an upset.
Brothers Marcus and Malcom Colbert combined for 41 points to lead the Trojans (10-1), who are currently the No. 4 ranked 5A team in the state. Shawn Reid added 18, as the Trojans outscored the Bulldogs 21-2 in a decisive overtime.
Sandpoint will host Moscow, the No. 3 ranked 4A team in the state, in a big 4A North league opener on Friday night at Les Rogers Court.
