Hearing reset in lewd case

| January 7, 2010 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — A Priest River man’s arraignment on a lewd conduct charge was put off Monday so he could continue reviewing his options.

Dayle Scott Westra’s arraignment was reset for Jan. 19, according to court documents.

The postponement apparently inspired a profanity-laced outburst in 1st District Court from a woman allied with the alleged victim. District Judge Steve Verby warned the woman she could be held in contempt of court for such a blow-up, court records indicated.

Westra, 36, remains held at the Bonner County Jail with bail set at $100,000. He is accused of raping and sodomizing an 11-year-old girl last month.
