Sandpoint girls fall to Moscow

| January 11, 2010 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Natasha Roop posted 11 points and six rebounds, but Sandpoint struggled to find an offensive rhythm in a 57-26 Inland Empire League 4A girls basketball loss to Moscow Friday night at Les Rogers Court.

Roop did most of her damage on the blocks, finishing down low with a variety of jump hooks and strong takes to the rim.

Sandpoint (1-12, 0-2 4A IEL) scored just two points in the first quarter, before playing the Bears evenly in a crisp second quarter. Christina Johnson added eight points, Koko James eight rebounds and Jordan Speelmon three steals and two assists as the Bulldogs struggled with Moscow’s half court trap.

Abi Quinnett and Taylor Anderson each scored 11 and Chelsea Waters added 10 for the Bears, who appear to be the team to beat in the 4A North.

Sandpoint is at Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.
