George Addison Palmer, 88

| January 12, 2010 8:00 PM

George Addison Palmer went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at the age of 88 in Stanwood, Wash., where he lived the last five years close to his eldest son Duane and his family.

George spent the previous 25 years in Hope and Sandpoint, Idaho, with his wife of 60 years, Blanche, and within miles of daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Born in Saint Mary’s, Wash., George had an enthusiasm for life and a thirst for learning that never left him. His passion for airplanes and flight fueled his career in aeronautical engineering with Lockheed and Boeing, which continued until he retired in Idaho. Even then, his dream was to build an airplane and fly it.

A genuine love of people and his faith in God permeated every part of his life. He carries with him a lifelong list of friends whose lives he touched. He was an amazing, gentle, loving man and his presence will be missed by all who knew him. He truly was an ambassador for God.

George’s journey was preceded by his wife, Blanche; and their son, Larry. He is survived by his son, Duane Palmer of Stanwood, Wash.; daughters, Irene Palmer, Mardelle Spence, and Janet Whitworth of Sandpoint, Idaho; grandchildren, Yori Lim, David, Aric, and Matthew Spence, Jonathan and Micah Palmer, Amanda Glidden and Roseann and Jason Ridley and 11 great-grandchildren. The void that he leaves in the lives of those who loved him will be filled with a lifetime of enduring memories.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Coffelt Funeral Chapel in Sandpoint on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Chad Wilks officiating. Private interment will follow at a later time in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Family and friends are invited to sign George’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
