Vikings take down Bulldogs
COEUR d’ALENE — Chad Chalich and Jake Matheson held Sandpoint’s high-scoring Stefan Buratto to just one field goal, and the Vikings rolled to a 78-42 win Tuesday night at Elmer Jordan Court.
Buratto, who scored a school-record 42 points last week at Post Falls and is averaging 25 points per game, scored only nine points Tuesday night, hitting six first-half free throws and one second-half 3-pointer.
“We’re a pretty good defensive team, but tonight they showed a little extra,” Coeur d’Alene assistant coach Steve Bourgard said.
Deon Watson scored 17 of his 24 points in the first half for Coeur d’Alene (11-2). He also had seven rebounds. Connor White hit three 3-pointers and added 15 points — 11 in the first half.
Cole Fuhrman scored nine points for Sandpoint (2-6), and Skyler Tucker and Brandon Hawkins each added eight in defeat.
Sandpoint hosts Bonners Ferry on Saturday night as part of Moose Madness.
