Residents' generosity helping our soldiers

| January 13, 2010 8:00 PM

I received two e-mails from Afghanistan about receipt of packages at the end of December about packages sent to American servicemen serving there that should be shared with local citizens that donated and help get packages sent.

• From all the soldiers at Camp Blessing Medic Platton. — “Merry Christmas and Thank you very much for your thoughts, prayers and care package. We received the care package Dec. 24, 2009, and spread the goodies out among the platoon so that everyone’s greatest needs were met and add a little Christmas spirit. Thank you very much for your support and effort to help Christmas go a little better. Capt Benjamin Crabb

• Myself and many others here have received several care packages. They are a big boost to spirits here, especially the conveniently packaged hygiene products.  I appreciate everything you and the VFW are doing for us in Afghanistan. You guys keep us going.  Capt. Stanley Yee, COP Michigan

My thanks go to Wayne and Anita Therien and their friends who  made these packages possible. Alaura Syth, I have a personal message from Capt Crabb for you; call me at 290-5933 or e-mal me at vfwpost2453@yahoo.com.

Many thanks and best wishes for all the items donated from the citizens of Bonner County.  Drop of points for donations are, Bank of America, Vanderfords and Little Critters Day Care (Clark Fork).  Monitory donations can be made at Bank of America to assist with shipping these packages.

Having received packages for caring citizens while serving in Vietnam, the feeling when one is received can be overwhelming. To pay forward this caring is very rewarding emotionally.
