Taxpayers get billed for officials' higher wages

| January 13, 2010 8:00 PM

Jack Satkosky’s letter (Jan. 3, 2010) was wonderful. Eventually some of our elected officials will realize they are a big part of the problem. We are sick and tired of this blame game.

Our city council blames the county officials, but they spend, spend, spend. Last week, a listing of city expenditures had in excess of $400,000. Other, last six years, county elected officials’ pay is way up; they were the only voters. Federal elected officials, pay is up every year; they are the only voters. I find that it is we who have no representation on these matters — we just get to pay. They tax, they increase their pay and we are rewarded with  more taxes.

My favorite general used to say, “bovine scatterization.” I think a few need replacement now. What say you?

P.S. Sheriff took a pay cut; county prosecutor a big pay raise before he was sworn in. I wonder why?
