More bad ideas for the city of Sandpoint

| January 18, 2010 8:00 PM

The Sandpoint City Council seems to be working hard at making Sandpoint an inconvenience between Coeur d’Alene and Ponderay. They seriously considered charging visitors to use City Beach. Because drive-up businesses are a convenience. especially when there is no place to park, they, too, met City Council objection. Then they turned down moves to prevent drivers from cell phoning or text messaging while driving because a driver should not have to sacrifice his or her convenience for safety.

The following are some suggestions to make our community even less attractive to visitors who might otherwise patronize a local business. Upon completion of the bypass, install toll booths at each off ramp and charge about $5 to enter the town. Booths at on ramps could charge about $10 to get out of town. Visitors would certainly enjoy viewing the ill conceived “back-in parking” experiment!

Sandpoint has a lot to offer visitors and area residents. The current City Council actions are not part of that positive offering.
