Berkley scores 12 as Wampus Cats fall to Miners

WALLACE — Stephen Heinig scored 10 of his 23 points in the second quarter as the host Miners outscored the Wampus Cats 22-7 to break open a tight North Star League game.

“We put a little pressure on them, and finally got some turnovers,” Wallace coach Bruce Bailey said of the decisive quarter.

Heinig also had nine rebounds, four steals and two assists for Wallace (5-7, 3-0 NSL), which plays host to Mullan on Friday.

Sophomore Stillman Berkley led Clark Fork (0-14, 0-4) with 12 points, and the freshmen tandem of Axel Anderson and Zack Klein combined for 16 points, showing a strong glimpse of the future of Wampus Cat basketball.

Clark Fork hosts Mullan on Jan. 29.
