Tragedy bringing out the worst in some

| January 20, 2010 8:00 PM

The rush is on to send help to Haiti and Rush Limbaugh is wrong to encourage people not to.

Once again we see how disaster and calamity tend to bring out the very best in humankind.

The ongoing news coverage of the catastrophic events taking place in Haiti are heart-wrenching and unimaginable indeed. But it’s truly heart-warming and reaffirming of the goodness in human nature to see the ongoing outpouring of kindness and generosity demonstrated by so many from all over the world.

On the other hand, it’s revolting to see how disaster and hardship can also bring out the very worst in humankind, such as Rush Limbaugh and his plea to radio talk show listeners to not send aid to those starving and on the brink of death in Haiti. Prejudice truly is one of the worst diseases, only to show its ugly face once again in times like this.
