SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host the 2009 Chamber Choice Awards presented by Horizon Credit Union on Friday, January 29th.

This second straight event honors involved, innovative, and inspirational businesses and individuals from the greater Sandpoint area. The chamber is pleased to welcome Good Morning Northwest anchor Mark Peterson of KXLY to emcee the ceremony.

The awards to be presented include Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Employer of the Year, Employee of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Green Award, Innovation in Education, Tourism Partner of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.

“The Chamber Choice Awards is the premier event to recognize outstanding achievements by our community,” said executive director Amy Little. “Nominations were submitted from the general public, and as the event name implies, Chamber members cast their vote,” she said.

“We have a strong mix of long-standing businesses and individuals in addition to many new businesses and organizations nominated, with a total of 63 nominees this year.”

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at the Sandpoint Business & Events Center, located on the corner of Euclid and Pine Street, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The general public is welcome to attend the event to support nominees and employers. Reservations required and tickets available until Friday at 12 p.m. The cost is $15 per ticket or $25 for couples.
