Bloated bureaucracy not the way to donate
Leonard Scott and Curtis Hewston both submitted articles recently to your editorial page criticizing Rush Limbaugh for supposedly urging his radio talk show listeners not to send aid to Haitian earthquake victims. Both men misrepresented what Limbaugh was urging his listeners to do.
Rush suggested his listeners send aid through private charitable institutions instead of government institutions so that a greater portion of the donations actually get to those in need instead of being eaten up by governmental bureaucratic red tape. My family followed Rush’s advice and gave a generous donation through our church.
I agree with Limbaugh that if people really want to help the needy they do so through the best means possible — which is not the bloated, bumbling, bureaucratic federal government.
