Virginia Jane Hindmarsh, 85

Virginia Jane Hindmarsh, 85, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint with Father Dennis C. Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Westmond Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the Lakeview Funeral Home. 

Virginia was born on July 3, 1924, in New York to John and Florence Dowd. She grew up and attended schools in New York.

On March 4, 1946, Virginia married Del Hindmarsh in Oakland, Calif., upon his discharge from the United States Navy. he couple made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, for 35 years, and retired to 20 acres in Careywood, Idaho. Virginia and Del built their retirement home and furniture by hand.

She is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she helped by serving at the soup kitchen. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Don) Fesler of Hayden, Idaho; son, Ron (Sandra) Hindmarsh of Provo, Utah; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Holei of New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Del, brother Walter Dowd, sister Florence Dowd, and one infant son.
