Facility's angels are owed debt of gratitude
One day God decided to create some special angels and He put lots of love into their hearts and great compassion into their souls. He then proceeded to give them names: Patti Fulton, Dr. Eileen Kellner and Sue Zumwalt and, in His great wisdom, He placed them in the Bonner County Humane Society Clinic, laying on their hearts to care for His other creatures who were helpless and needy.
Now, let me tell you a story: Some years ago, some irresponsibly people drove North on Highway 95, stopped at our property, opened their car door and threw two adult cats out. (Hopefully, the same demise will not befall them when they grow old.) Those poor animals ran in circles, frightened and bewildered. After a few days they adapted to their new surroundings and we were able to feed them. But guess what? Word got around and neighboring critters came to “visit” and to multiply and we now have a flock of 20! People would say “don’t feed them, they will go away”! Ha! They don’t know cats! To feed all those animals, does not come cheap. Trust me — I’ve done it for years, without any help.
God must have heard my prayers when out of the blue my friend Chuck Driggs volunteered his help. He secured two live traps, I bait them, and when I catch the kitties, he transports them to the Bonner County Humane Society Clinic for spay/neuter. Sounds easy? Well, it isn’t. Those little buggers are wise … we have, however, reduced their ”multiplication ability” by 21 — so far. More to go!
God bless the wonderful people at Bonner Humane Society! It saddens me greatly to hear that they are closing their facility for good because there are no funds available to continue their work.
Local authorities (animal control?) are doing what? Nothing for cats — that’s a fact! Since all this was caused by irresponsible people, it makes sense that people should fix it. County government should loosen up some funds.
In closing, I want to thank these angels from Bonner Humane Society from the bottom of my heart for their dedication and their love which they have shown to the innocent animals, to all the people who came for help and to the whole county at large. Thank you, thank you, and may God bless!
