Leadership Sandpoint supports DayBreak Center

| July 8, 2010 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Leadership Sandpoint’s class of 2009 recently completed its class project to help the DayBreak Center.

As part of its curriculum, each Leadership Sandpoint class helps a non-profit in the community. The DayBreak Center, an organization sponsored by Sandpoint Area Seniors, provides respite care to family members of those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

In 2009 the class raised more than $2,000 with a yard sale and recently utilized the funds raised to install planter benches for the center’s back patio, as well as provide it with potting benches, a number of potting tools, and additional chairs for the backyard. The Leadership Sandpoint class provided the items at the request of the center and which will support the facility’s therapy to delay the progress of dementia.

Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce officials congratulated class members on their successful project and thanked the DayBreak Center for its continued efforts to provide a nurturing place for adults and respite time for caregivers.

For those interested in participating in Leadership Sandpoint, applications are available and applications are due by July 31. The program is an excellent way to learn the facets of the Greater Sandpoint area from a consortium of leaders and refine leadership and team building skills.
