Akey Akey Tiki Tiki Luau at Dover Bay this weekend
DOVER — Attention all area University of Idaho alumni and fans, the first-ever Bonner County University of Idaho Vandal Scholarship Fundraiser is coming to the Dover Bay Waterfront Resort this weekend.
Dubbed the Akey Akey Tiki Tiki Luau, in honor of current Vandal football coach Robb Akey, the three-day fundraising celebration promises plenty of food, fun and prizes in a casual and beautiful setting.
A host of Vandal sports coaches will be on hand, as well as plenty of locals with Vandal ties. The event is the brainchild of former Vandal football player and Dover Bay developer Ralph Sletager, who wanted to host a different kind of fundraiser and hopes it can evolve into an annual event.
The festivities kick off on Friday night, with a tradition summer barbecue at Dover Bay, from 5:30-10 p.m. The night will feature a live auction, silent auction and a number of giveaways, as well as live music, canoe and kayak rides and a variety of fun games. Among the prizes up for auction are a trip to the Idaho vs. Nebraska football game, a four-day fishing trip to Alaska, four days at a condo in Yellowstone and hunting and fishing trips.
Saturday starts with the Fourth Annual Dover Bay Days Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and includes a Vandal Family Barbecue. Sunday brings the continuation of Dover Bay Days, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as POAC’s Sunday Concerts on the Lawn.
