Local athletes notch wins at Hershey's meet
WALLACE — A host of Sandpoint area youth notched top finishes Saturday at the Hershey’s state track and field meet in Silverton. Athletes from Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Rathdrum and the Silver Valley competed in the district meet.
Their times will be compared with district meets from around Idaho, and a handful of athletes might qualify for the national meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania later this summer.
Local placers:
n Boys 9-10: Declan Plummer (1st in the 50, 1st in the 100 and 2nd in the softball throw) and Conner Matlosz (5th in softball throw).
n Boys 11-12: Jack Greisemer (1st in the 100, 2nd in the 200), Spencer Thompson (1st in the 200, 2nd in the 100), Mahonri Hunsaker (1st in the 400, 3rd in the 100 and 4th in the softball throw) and Hyrum Hunsaker (3rd in the 800).
n Boys 13-14: Clayton Pell (1st in the 100 and 2nd in the 200), Jonathan McCormick (1st in the 200, 2nd in the 100 and 2nd in the softball throw) and Jackson Rands (1st in the standing long jump and 3rd in the 200).
n Girls 9-10: Katherine Kaul (1st in the 100, 1st in the 400 and 1st in the standing long jump) and Shelby Kluver (1st in the 200, 2nd in the standing long jump and 3rd in the 100).
n Girls 11-12: Kate Matlosz (1st in the 400, 4th in the standing long jump and 6th in the 100), Sharon Rowe (2nd in the 400, 8th in the 100), Grace Kirscher (4th in the 200 and 7th in the 100) and Leslie Kiebert (3rd in the softball throw).
n Girls 13-14: Shayna Kluver (1st in the 100, 1st in the 200 and 2nd in the softball throw).
