Laughing Dog Brewing named top business

PONDERAY — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce awarded Laughing Dog Brewing the Business of the Month award for their exemplary service and generosity to the community.

Owners Fred Colby and Michelle Douglas opened their doors in August 2005 and have gone on to become the successful brewery they are today.

When they are not busy selling their brews in 22 states, Colby and Douglas find the time to give back to the community.

Laughing Dog Brewing has enjoyed supporting and sponsoring numerous events for local cancer charities, golf tournaments aiding various organizations, and the Panhandle Animal Shelter to name a few.

They have also generously donated to the Festival of Trees to support Kinderhaven and Panhandle Alliance for Education.

Soon, Laughing Dog Brewing will be moving to a new facility at 1109 Fontaine Drive in Ponderay, next to Papa Murphy’s on Highway 95.

“There is no definite date yet as moving a brewery is a huge undertaking,” Douglas said. “For a brief period we will have two locations.”

The new facility will be large enough to host charitable events, meetings and parties comfortably.

Laughing Dog Brewing will hold a fifth anniversary party on Aug 28 from noon to 8 p.m. Area residents are invited to come hungry and thirsty as there will be a pig roast, three bands and a “barrel-aged” beer bar featuring their specialty beers.

Of course, Laughing Dog Brewing officials noted there will be plenty of prizes to give away.

Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce officials said they were pleased to honor Laughing Dog Brewing as the chamber’s “Business of the Month” and wishes the business continued success.
