Helen G. Anderson, 88
Helen G. Anderson, 88, passed away peacefully at Generations Assisted Living in Rathdrum, Idaho, on Thursday, July 22, 2010, where she was a resident for the past two years.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint with Dr. Robert Nail officiating.
Helen was born in western North Dakota on June 9, 1922. She was the daughter of Harold and Gunda Johnson.
She attended schools in Alamo, North Dakota, Minot, North Dakota and Greeley, Colo. She taught school for many years in North Dakota and Idaho.
She married Leonard Anderson in 1948 in Plentywood, Mont. In 1958 they moved to Hope, Idaho, where they purchased and operated the Rainbow Resort for 21 years. In 1998 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Hope Community Center.
After retiring, Leonard and Helen moved to their new home on Lakeview in Hope.
She was a member of Clark Fork Lutheran Church, where she was also a pianist/organist and choir director.
Helen enjoyed music, doing crossword puzzles, reading, playing bridge and tutoring children to improve their reading skills.
She established a college scholarship fund to assist Hope/Clark Fork area students pursuing further education.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard; sisters, Esther Stockman and Jane Bauman; and a brother, Willard Johnson.
Memorials may be made to Generations Assisted Living, Rathdrum, Idaho or to a charity of choice.
