GOP, deregulation deserve much blame

| July 31, 2010 9:00 PM

This is a rebuttal to Vera Hutchinson’s letter.

A lot of right wing misinformation. The Jones Act does not even apply to the oil spill (it only applies to shipping freight from one U.S. port to another) and there are 15 vessels from foreign countries that have been working in the gulf on the cleanup.

Now you say “Barrack Hussein Obama’s” (cute) team are a bunch of bobble heads and not an oil expert among them. The experts seem to not have a handle on the situation, environmental statements talk about saving walruses in the Gulf of Mexico and they are using 40-year-old techniques that have never worked in the past, (we do need to let them try) so it does not seem like assembling a teams of top engineers and scientists from MIT and so on to try and think outside the box and come up with a new solution is a crazy idea.

Now a great deal of the blame for this disaster goes to the Republican Revolution and Reaganomics” let’s make the government so small it can be drowned in a bath tub.” Deregulation was the call of the day smaller government and little or no regulations on business and environmentalists are just liberal nut cases. Let the corporations do what ever they want after all they give us lots of money. So whatever corporations wanted, they got, drug companies got no discounts allowed for the federal government, corporations got tax breaks to send jobs to China. Wall Street got the firewall to not have a depression removed. Wealthy got the ability to be paid in stock options to exempt them from income tax. Oil companies got to write their own regulation (Cheney Oil Summit.)
