Annetta Curtis, 102

| June 1, 2010 9:00 PM

Annetta Curtis passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at The Bridge Assisted Living in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was 102 years old.

She suffered from many health problems for several years but her mind was sharp until her passing. Her family was with her when she went to her final resting place with her savior Jesus Christ.

At her request, there will be no funeral services. Internment will take place in Tulsa, Okla.

She was born Sept. 7, 1907, in Coldwater County, Mich.

She graduated high school in 1925 from White Pigeon, Mich. In 1930, she graduated from nursing at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. She did a post-graduate course in obstetrics at New York Lying In Hospital in New York City, N.Y.

In her 102 years, Annetta experienced many things, from the horse-and-buggy days to the man on the moon to the space shuttle.

Her life began before automobiles and concrete highways, television and penicillin. She was always amazed at how much things had changed over the course of her life.

She married Delmer Curtis on June 2, 1934. He passed away in 1996.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Lowrey of Sandpoint; a grandson, Kent Cornelsen of Sandpoint; a granddaughter, Dr. Kelley Cornelson of Sandpoint; and two great-granddaughters, Kristin Safian and Holly Amson; and great-great-granddaughter, Madelin Mia Amson, all of Fresno, Calif.

Her wish was to spend the rest of her life at the Bridge. Thanks to the staff’s wonderful care, she was able to do so. The staff all went beyond their duties to make her life comfortable to the very end and she was so appreciative of all their care.

Also, our gratitude to Hospice for her comfort and care to the end.
