HAVRE, Mont. — Montana State University Northern Lights basketball coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of former Bulldog football and basketball standout Ben Mitchell, a 6-foot-5 forward transfer from Spokane Community College.

Mitchell, a Sandpoint native who graduated in 2005, played a big role for SCC his freshman year, posting three triple-doubles, while leading his team to a third place finish in the NWAACC. His strong play continued as a sophomore, averaging 13 points  and five rebounds per game, while shooting better than 50 percent from the field.

“Ben is a very solid all-around forward. Not only is he very good around the basket, but he also shoots the ball with great consistency from the perimeter,” described Huse of Mitchell, who redshirted last season after transferring. “He is a very tough matchup for opposing players at his position. Ben should hit the ground running next year.”

The Lights finished 22-10 last season in the Frontier Conference.
