Let residents decide

I don’t understand why the city of Sandpoint is reluctant to discontinue fluoridating the municipal water supply.

Despite the position of the ADA, fluoride has not been proven to prevent cavities and creates the risk of fluorosis, a serious disease that is very difficult to treat.

Fluoride’s efficacy in preventing cavities only occurs with topical application, not ingestion.

Exposing the public to this toxic substance without consent amounts to compulsory mass medication. Citizens must be allowed to choose whether to expose themselves to fluoride — and in what form.

Please discontinue this potentially harmful — and completely unnecessary — practice! For more information, check out: http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/~unger/articles/fluoridation2.html
