Horizon honored as chamber's top employer
SANDPOINT — Horizon Credit Union was honored as the Employer of the Year at the second Chamber Choice Awards.
The Chamber Choice Awards honor the best of business and community in the Sandpoint area. The award nominees are voted on by more than 600 businesses and individual members of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.
In her award nomination, Horizon’s Sandpoint branch manager Andrea Cordle said Horizon deserved the award because the organization is dedicated to the communities it serves, by spending its time educating the community and working with youth.
Over the last year, Horizon started hosting financial field trips for the Lake Pend Oreille Alternative High School; Horizon became part of the work-based learning program at Sandpoint High School; and Horizon began sponsoring the Youth Leadership Sandpoint program.
Cordle also described the Credit Union’s community program called Community Spirit Days. On these days employees make donations for the privilege of wearing jeans to work. Funds raised during a Community Spirit Day go to support a community member in need.
“We were honored to take home this award,” said Kathy Conway, Director of Branch Operations, “and we are grateful for the hard work, enthusiasm and high level of service that our employees bring to the job every day.”
