Elmer Westly John, 77
Elmer Westly John, 77, of Clark Fork, Idaho, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Monday, March 1, 2010, at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane.
He was born Aug. 13, 1932 in Modesto, Calif., the son of Clarence and Anna Fisher John. He was raised in Escalon, Calif., where he attended school and graduated. He was drafted into the Army where he served two years active duty during the Korean War. He remained in the reserves until 1961.
In March 1957, he married Zelda Wheeler at Modesto and they remained there until 1960 when they moved to Placerville, Calif. In 1976, they returned to Modesto and in 1994 they moved to Clark Fork.
Elmer enjoyed model trains and camping. He also collected wagon parts, which somehow never seemed to be put together.
He was an active member of the Assembly of God Church first in Placerville and at Sandpoint when they moved to North Idaho.
He is survived by his wife, Zelda of Clark Fork; three children, Paula (Ron) Young of Pocatello, Idaho, Wesley (Lois) John of Clark Fork, Starla (Bob) Bowers of Clark Fork; five grandchildren, Kevin, Cody, Jennifer, Josh and Steve; and by four great-grandchildren, Kyndal, Kezie, Alasya and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Sandpoint Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Brian Noble, officiating. Military rites will follow by the Bonner County area veterans.
