Joyce Baker named chamber's top 'rookie'

PONDERAY — Joyce Baker, manager of the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Ponderay, received the Rookie of the Month award at the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce’s February Power Lunch, an award honoring a new member who is actively involved in supporting the business community.

After opening the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in the summer of 2009, Baker became an active member of the new group Sandpoint Area Lodging & Tourism and holds a position on the Chamber’s Recreation & Tourism Council.

Baker is actively engaged with the Visit Sandpoint branch of the Chamber and takes advantage of the co-op advertising opportunities available through the tourism grant.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites is always maximizing opportunities to support the business community.

The business also participated as a sponsor for the inaugural Scenic Half Marathon presented by Panhandle State Bank which brought runners from across the region who stayed over night, shopped, and dined at local establishments.

Holiday Inn Epress & Suites also welcomed and sponsored the chamber’s 2010 TGIF Workshop series presented by the Bonner Business Center; and with their large meeting room facilities, more business professionals are attending and sharpening their skills.
