Les H. Hartford, 76, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

At his request no services will be held.

Les was born on July 17, 1933, in Lewistown, Mont., to Victor and Zelda Hartford. He grew up and attended schools in Lewistown.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, part of which he was stationed in Germany. He worked for a period of time as a meat cutter for Safeway in Malta, Mont., and later owned Strictly Custom Meat Cutting and Sanitary Disposal Service, both in Lewistown.

Les married Luana Roane on Sept. 4, 1955, in Lewistown; they were later divorced. He moved to Sandpoint in 1994.

In Montana, he was a member of the American Legion, Moose, Elks, and Eagles Lodges. He was also a past president of the Montana Private Pilot’s Association. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and flying.

He is survived by one son Bryce (Gail) Hartford of North Bend, Wash.; one daughter, Kerri McKeen of Missoula, Mont.; four grandsons, Tyler, Gary, Kyle, and Erik; a great-granddaughter, Jani Rose Marie; two brothers, Russ (Judy) Hartford of Kalispell, Mont., and Tom (Cathy) Hartford of Lewistown; and special friend Bealuh of Sandpoint.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, Vance.
