Pleas entered in ramming case

SANDPOINT — A Clark Fork woman who allegedly tried to run her husband off Highway 200 last fall was given a suspended one-year jail sentence and ordered to undergo a domestic violence evaluation.

MacKenzie Snow Quiroz pleaded guilty to reckless driving and disturbing the peace on Monday in 1st District Court.

Quiroz, 19, was set to stand trial on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but pleaded to the lesser offenses instead, court records indicate.

Witnesses who saw the drama unfold told an Idaho State Police trooper the two were driving abreast of one another on the two-lane highway. Quiroz then allegedly rammed her husband’s car, but she ended losing control of her car and crashed, the police report said.

The incident happened near Denton Slough on Sept. 27, 2009.

Judge Charles Hosack gave Quiroz consecutive, suspended 180-day jail sentences. She was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and placed on probation for four years, court records said.
