Jack Valenta, 94, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Friday, March 12, 2010.

The Vigil Rosary prayers will be said at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am, Wednesday, March 17, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating and the burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Ill.

Jack was born in Rosenberg, Texas, on Oct. 24, 1915.  He served with the U.S. Army, as an military police during World War II.

He worked as a paint mixer for Sherwin Williams Paint Co., in Chicago, Ill., until retirement in 1980.

He moved to Sandpoint in 2004 and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his daughter Marcia (and Larry) Millar of Sandpoint; two grandchildren Susan Lajter of Waunakee, Wis., and Larry R. Millar of Sandpoint, Idaho.
