Panel struck blow for individual freedoms

| March 13, 2010 8:00 PM

In a recent letter to the Bee,  I complimented Commissioner Cornel Rasor for refusing to pass an unnecessary boating regulation, during a recent commissioners’ meeting. Since Commissioner Joe Young was absent the matter was continued; where I fully expected it would pass.

All too often our elected officials give lip service to smaller government, less bureaucracy, greater individual freedom and responsibility, etc. yet, when push comes to shove,  they are quick to pile another regulatory straw on the proverbial camel’s back.

Not so at the following commissioners’ meeting. Instead, all three commissioners struck a blow for individual freedom and tabled the unnecessary boating law indefinitely. If every elected official stood his  ground and refused to pass unnecessary laws, the country would be better and freer for it.

Thank you commissioners Lewis Rich, Joe Young and Cornel Rasor.

LOU GOODNESS
