Lura attended Sandpoint High School and she graduated in 1945. While in high school, she was a cheerleader and “Yell Queen” in 1944-45.

Upon graduation she worked for the Farmin Insurance Agency as a stenographer until shortly after she married Leonard M. Mitchell on June 1, 1946. They were married in Thompson Falls, Mont., and honeymooned in the Garfield Bay area.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, was vice-president of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and bowled on various bowling leagues in Sandpoint. Lura devoted her life to her husband and the rearing of their five children.

In 1981, Lura and her youngest daughter, Sally, went to cosmetology school and graduated together. She enjoyed family activities at their home on the lake near Garfield Bay, cutting and styling hair, sewing and crocheting, gardening and traveling, and trips into the mountains of North Idaho to hunt, fish and pick huckleberries with her family.

She won blue ribbons at the Bonner County Fair for her crocheting and her prized roses.

Leonard and Lura were snowbirds for several years in Sun City, Ariz., in the 1980s before finally living full time at their lake home near Garfield Bay in Sagle.

Her parents; husband, Leonard, of 60 years; her oldest brother and sister, Harvey Langford and Verna Warnick; a younger brother, Gordon Lynn Langford; and two younger sisters, Elda Maxey and Merle Fowles; and granddaughter, Holly Anne Peterson; precede her in death.

She is survived by her five children, Sherri L. (John) Polarine of Sagle; Linda L. (Steve) Schaffner of Sandpoint; Lori A. (David) Jennings of Honolulu, Hawaii; William L. (Sherry) Mitchell of Sandpoint, and Sally (Brett) Peterson of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Althea Bailey-Warnick; a brother, Sherman D. (Beulah) Langford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
