Put juvenile detention in LPOSD office building
There is a obvious solution to both the juvenile detention center and the LPOSD budget problems.
1. Convert the Lake Pend Oreille School District administration building on Triangle Drive to a juvenile detention center.
2. Move the LPOSD administration offices to the senior high school or to the former Sandpoint Federal Building, which is already leased by the county.
Such a move would enable the Northside school to be more than ten miles from the administration offices and be eligible for a rural grant of $100,000.
To those who would argue that the LPOSD administration needs more space I am reminded that when I went to school in a district larger than LPOSD, the administration consisted of the superintendent and his secretary in an office in the high school.
