Local cagers shine in District 1 All-Star game
MULLAN — Sandpoint’s Stefan Buratto scored 21 points and Skyler Tucker added 14 as the East boys and girls swept their way past the West in the annual District 1 All-Star Games, held on Friday night at the Mullan Athletic Pavilion.
Buratto was named Most Valuable Player on the East, spearheading a 122-116 shootout win played at an NBA scoring pace. Bulldog Brandon Lawrence added six points for the East team, and Priest River’s Jake Weimer led the West team in a losing effort, scoring a team-high 18 points.
Sandpoint senior Christina Johnson and Koko James combined for 13 points to help lead the East to a 65-55 win in the girls game. Clark Fork’s Shaina Gustafson added nine, while Coeur d’Alene senior Dayna Drager earned MVP honors with 18 points.
During half time of the girls game, North Star League Most Valuable Player Shaina Gustafson won the 3-point shooting contest.
J.J. Stoddard of Lake City won the boys 3-point contest at the half of the boys game, with Connor Williams winning the Slam Dunk contest.
