Farmers agents sponsor 'fraud' essay contest
Idahoans will soon learn how acts of fraud impact their pocketbooks. Idaho Farmers Insurance agents are sponsoring a Fraud Awareness Coalition’s essay contest for high school seniors.
“We are asking all Idaho High School Seniors to do some research and write an essay on the topic, how fraud impacts Idahoans,” explained Kris Pacey, Farmers Idaho State Executive Director. “Farmers Insurance hopes to open everyone’s eyes and make them aware of traps they might fall into or problems they could cause by participating in fraudulent activities.”
Idaho Department of Insurance Director Bill Deal says, “The Fraud Awareness Coalition is working to educate Idahoans about the cost and impact of fraud. This scholarship contest is an opportunity for high school students to become aware of how various types of fraud affect them and their families. We encourage students throughout the state to participate.”
“Insurance fraud is a felony in Idaho. That is a clear message that we are working to get out to all Idahoans. We are working to encourage people to come forward and report fraud,” Pacey stated.
Three scholarships will be awarded: $1,000 first place, $750 second place and $250 third place.
Winners will be notified in writing by the Coalition on or before June 1, 2010.
To be considered for the scholarship, high school seniors must submit an original essay following these guidelines:
