Hawkins wins at Finney Relays

POST FALLS — Brandon Hawkins ran a season-best 2:06 to win the 800 meters, leading Sandpoint at the 18th annual Christina Finney Relays in Post Falls on Thursday.

Post Falls won the eight-team event, as scores were determined by combining the boys and girls team scores from each school.

Melinda Van Dyk finished second in the 100 meters, just .04 behind the winner, and also teamed with Blake Plaster, Elli Kiselica and Ellie Engel to finish second in the girls 4X100 relay.

Jennie Meulenberg finished third in the triple jump, Kiselica fourth in the high jump, Christina Johnson fourth in the discus and fifth in the shot, Maddie Suppiger fifth in the 100 hurdles, Cymbre Martin 5th in the 400 and Mikaila Bristow, Jessica Hawkins, Emma Carter and Martin fourth in the 4X200 to lead the Bulldog girls.

Senior Mike Hubbard high jumped 5-10 for a fourth place finish, Anthony Gold grabbed fourth in the 100 with an 11.82, Cody Hecker was fifth in the shot put, Dillon Gingerich fifth in the triple jump, Sean Hogan fifth in the 300 hurdles and Danny Pfeifer fifth in the 3,200 to lead the Bulldog boys.

Gold, Hecker Hawkins and Hubbard teamed for a fourth place finish in the 4X100, and Paul Hill, Gingerich, Hubbard and Hawkins finished fourth in the 4X400 relay.

Sandpoint hosts Priest River, Clark Fork and Bonners Ferry at the Quad meet on April 1.
