April's wellness series spotlights colon cancer
There’s no better time than the present to take charge of your health! Sponsored by the BGH Foundation, the 2010 Health & Wellness Series is designed to help you do just that. These monthly sessions feature different health topics of interest to our community. Each session is conducted by members of the BGH medical staff who have generously volunteered their time to help our community learn more about protecting their own health. Best of all, the sessions are free of charge.
This April, we’ll be highlighting colon cancer and smoking cessation.
Join us on Wednesday, April 8, for a discussion on colon cancer prevention with Dr. Charles Crane. Of all forms of cancer that affect both men and women, colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the risk factors associated with this form of cancer and find out what you can do to decrease your personal risk.
On Thursday, April 9, Thomas Lawrence, M.D. will continue the wellness series with a discussion on smoking cessation.
This session is designed to answer your questions about tobacco usage, give you useful information about the products and medications available to help you quit, and a discussion about why different treatments and approaches work differently for each individual.
Both sessions will take place from 6-7 p.m. at Bonner General Hospital.
Upcoming health and wellness sessions will address topics such as general cancer screening, common sports injuries, childhood immunizations, osteoarthritis, diabetes mellitus and heart disease.
Information will be posted on the hospital Web site at www.BonnerGeneral.org or can be obtained by calling 265-3390.
Your health is your most precious asset, so take advantage of this monthly wellness series and learn more about how to protect it!
