Group means 'zilch'

| May 1, 2010 9:00 PM

To preface, since Jeff, and associates, represent that they are in fact the “militia” as designated in the Idaho Constitution, I wrote Governor Otter to get his stated position regarding these “groups.”

Following, in part, is the letter that I received from Governor Otter:

“Please rest assured that I do not in any way endorse either of these ‘militia’ groups. They have no affiliation with me, the State of Idaho, the Idaho National Guard, or the Armed Services of the United States.

“I know nothing about them; I do not interact with them or their members, and I do not recommend or advocate any level of involvement in militia activities.”

As far as the governor, and the state of Idaho, this unit has no basis to claim any level of validity. The Idaho National Guard is the “organized” militia, properly trained and equipped by the State of Idaho. Jeff’s group has no official status whatsoever.

Bottom line, the premise of this organization is founded on outright falsehood, misconceptions, and extremely loose interpretations of the Idaho Constitution. Since they are disavowed by all authorities they amount to exactly “zilch” in the real world.
