SAR endorses Tina Harvey
SANDPOINT — The Selkirk Association of Realtors is endorsing Tina Harvey for Bonner County assessor in the May 25 primary election.
“Tina has an outstanding track record in her 15 years with the Bonner County Assessor’s Office, and she understands the factors that go into establishing fair market value for housing,” said association President Mark Linscott.
Harvey is challenging incumbent Assessor Jerry Clemons’ Republican nomination for the post. There is no Democrat in the race, which means the contest is likely to be decided in the primary.
Linscott said Harvey knows that county government needs to live within its means by not allowing budgets to expand and taxes to increase when landowners are struggling to make ends meet.
The 310-member trade organization is dedicated to promoting economic development and guarding private property rights, which also factored into the association’s endorsement.
“Tina Harvey has a clear understanding of what it will take to get Bonner County back on the right track,” said Raphael Barta, the association’s chairman of Government Affairs.
Barta said the county needs to move forward with a clear vision for economic development and job retention.
“This starts with a fair assessment process for all citizens in Bonner County, and we believe Tina has the leadership skills and experience to do the job,” said Barta.
