Carol Ann (Johnson) Sargent, 64

Carol Ann (Johnson) Sargent, 64, of Sandpoint, Idaho, was born Aug. 4, 1945, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Bob and Dorothy “Dot” Johnson. Carol passed away April 30, 2010, at the Kootenai Medical Center of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Carol attended and graduated from the Sandpoint High School in 1964; she then attended the University of Idaho.

A success in her working life, she was a hotel manager, a realtor and a college instructor.

Carol married Joel Sargent on Jan. 13, 1978 at Spokane. Most of her life was spent outside the area as a wife of a career naval officer and later an IBM spouse. Carol and Joel lived in New Orleans, La., Washington D.C., Seoul, Korea and many years in the San Francisco Bay area.

They moved back to Sandpoint in 2007. Carol was a marvelous homemaker, she loved entertaining family and friends.

Upon returning to Sandpoint, she was a very active force in bringing dialysis treatment facilities to this area

 Carol was a life-long member of the American Legion Auxiliary; she loved and enjoyed gardening and reading. Carol was a woman of indomitable spirit; she lived a full and inspirational life in spite of many physical ailments.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Sargent of Sandpoint; a stepson, Gregory Sargent of Brunswick, Maine; a stepdaughter, Jeanne of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; her father, Robert E. Johnson of Sandpoint,; a sister, Sandy Johnson of Sand-point, Idaho; two brothers Steve Johnson of Umatilla, Oregon and Thomas Johnson of Sagle, Idaho. A fifth-generation Sandpoint girl, she has numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends in the area. Carol was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy “Dot” Johnson.

Cremation was held and private family graveside services will be held.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, the National Kidney Foundation or to the Mark Twain Museum.
