Bulldog girls shine in tennis match

POST FALLS — Mica Wolcott and Meranda Carter won in straight sets at No. 1 girls doubles, and Michelle Rockwell and Crystal Clark won in straight sets to earn the girls doubles sweep, but Sandpoint lost 6-5 to the much improved Trojans in tennis action Tuesday at Post Falls High School.

Sophia Meulenberg continues to impress, winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 girls singles, and Susan Williams rallied for a three set win at No. 2 girls singles in a strong showing by the Bulldog girls.

Kevin Kirby cruised at No. 1 boys singles, never dropping a game, to score the lone win on the boys side. Gerhardt Suppiger and Carson Nygren fell in arguably the match of the day at No. 2 doubles, winning the first set before dropping consecutive 7-6 sets in the tie-breakers.

Sandpoint hosts Lakeland on Thursday, then scrimmages Clark Fork on Friday. Post Falls hosts the Wampus Cats on Thursday.
