Sandpoint relay team scores impressive win at Meet of Champions

POST FALLS — Blake Plaster, Mikalia Bristow, Melinda Van Dyk and Elli Kiselica teamed to win the 4X100 girls relay, leading a strong showing by the Sandpoint track team Thursday during the Meet of Champions at Post Falls High School.

Van Dyk also nabbed fourth place in both the 100 and 100 hurdles, Susan Kovalchuk placed second in the pole vault by clearing nine feet, Christina Johnson third in the discus (118-1) and Elli Kiselica sixth in the high jump (4-10), rounding out the Bulldog girls placers at the meet featuring invited athletes from all classifications.

Danny Pfeifer cracked 10 minutes to place third in the 3,200 to lead the Bulldog boys team. Brandon Hawkins was fifth (2:03) in the 800 as he continues to edge closer to his goal of breaking two minutes, Sean Hogan was fifth in the 300 hurdles and Mike Hubbard was sixth in the high jump (5-10) to round out the Bulldog boys placers.

Sandpoint is at Regionals in Lewiston next Thursday and Friday.
