Faster response means lives, property saved
In today’s 911, time for those in need is of the essence. Sandpoint City Fire department, chiefed by Robert Tyler, and Sagle Fire District, directed by Rob Goodyear, have officially agreed to immediately respond to each other’s calls.
Quicker response with man/woman power can make the difference of life or death, property saved or lost.
Congratulations to the foresight and safety of the departments and to those being served.
Northside Fire District is asking their registered voters to say yes on May 25 to manning the Ponderay station 24 hours a day, seven day a week.
For the cost of a gallon of gasoline per month per $100,000 of non-exempt, assessed property value, we can hire six firefighter/EMTs. This positive vote will allow two persons per shift for 24/7 coverage reinforced by volunteers.
Currently, evening and weekends are covered by long-time, dedicated volunteers who respond from home, work or play to the nearest of four Northside stations and then to the emergency location. This is valuable lost time.
The National Fire Protection Association mandates three firefighters minimum on scene for safety. We are asking the district taxpayers for two out of the station followed by volunteer backup.
Please call 265-4114 for information and update on the May 25 levy adjustment.
The next of three pubic informational meetings is at 6 p.m. on May 12 at the Ponderay fire station. This response matter is heavy on our hearts and very important to our district.
God bless America and pray for our troops.
