Assessments too high under Clemons' watch

In spite of Jerry Clemons’ campaign promises to lower property taxes in Bonner County, assessments remain at 2007 levels. Assessments should reflect the 30-percent drop in market values but they don’t.
Mr. Clemons has no background in assessing and after three years apparently has not been able to learn the basics of his job. He brags that he wins 60 percent of the appeals done by unhappy Bonner County property owners to the Idaho State Tax Commission. This means, however, that he is wrong 40 percent of the time! His assessments are too high and everyone, including the Selkirk Association of Realtors, knows it. That is why they support Tina Harvey for Bonner County Assessor and so do I.
