Bulldogs' season ends at Moscow

| May 13, 2010 9:00 PM

MOSCOW — Moscow jumped out early and plated three runs in both the first and the second innings, leading the Bears to an 11-1 win over Sandpoint in a 4A Region 1 loser out softball game Thursday at Moscow High School.

Senior Rachel Hammack had two hits, including an RBI double to score Molly Givens in the third inning, but it was about all the offense the Bulldogs (5-17) could muster in their second trip to Moscow in a three day span.

Moscow (5-20) would score four more runs in the fourth, eventually ending the game in the fifth via the 10 run rule, and will now face Lakeland.

Sandpoint head coach Derek Dickinson called the loss a tough way to end the season, adding that it certainly wasn’t for a lack of effort.

“It’s a tough way for the seniors to go out, but I’m proud of how they competed,” said Dickenson, who will have a tough senior class to replace. “It will be tough to lose those seniors, especially Molly and Rachel.”

Givens, Maggie Kirscher and Kym DaVault each pitched for the Bulldogs, who managed just three hits against Raelynn Gosse, who has had held them in check twice in the tournament.
