Sandpoint falls in lacrosse championship

COEUR d’ALENE — Jesse Hansen scored seven goals as Lake City defeated Sandpoint 10-8 in the championship game of the North Idaho Lacrosse League tournament Friday night.

Lake City won its fourth straight league tourney title, and will advance to the state championship game vs. the winner of the Treasure Valley Lacrosse League. The state title game is scheduled for May 29 at 1 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene High.

Cam Veeder had 18 saves for No. 4 seed Lake City, which upset top-seeded Gonzaga Prep in the semifinals.

Nick Guida and Tim Householter scored three goals apiece for No. 3 seed Sandpoint, which upended No. 2 seed Coeur d’Alene in the semis. Emerson Jessup and Grant Jessup each scored for Sandpoint, which had arguably its best season yet in the growing club sport.
