John Siemers, 99

Longtime Longview, Wash., resident John Siemers, 99, passed away on May 7, 2010, at home.

Funeral services were held May 15 in Longview.

He was born Aug. 29, 1910, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Fredrick and Anna (Ruths) Siemers. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota and later received a master’s of divinity degree at Northwestern University in St. Paul, Minn.

John married Ruth Bixby on March 30, 1942; they were married for 68 years. She survives him at home.

In 1976, John moved to the local area, where he served as an assistant director at Campus Towers for 32 years, well into his 90s. Prior to that, he served as pastor for several Baptist churches in Minnesota, North Dakota, Idaho, including Sandpoint from  1966-1974; Oregon, and Washing-ton. He loved serving the Lord and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Ruth; he is survived by his sons, Richard Allan and Ellen Siemers, and Philip Wesley and Lori Siemeers; a daughter, Marian Ruth (Siemers) and Gordon McCrea; five grandchildren, Cynthia McCrea Boss, Scott McCrea, Erin Siemers Bangle, Jeffrey Siemers and Kyla Cross; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by infant triplet sons, Peter, James and John Siemers, in 1943.
