Clemons has done the job right, lowered taxes

| May 19, 2010 9:00 PM

Since Jerry Clemons became assessor he brought a lot of untaxed property on to the rolls that necessarily lowers taxes for us all; he also “uncovered” about 300 homeowners who were falsely reporting their homes as their primary Idaho homes and thus avoiding taxes. Again, higher total valuation equals lower taxes. He utilizes his staff well and the staff morale is good from what I hear.

Neither Ms. Harvey nor her supporters can offer anything negative about Clemons except to claim that all our property assessments have remained the same for the past two years in the face of recessionary times. My assessment and friends’ assessments have been lowered, so that’s not a entirely true claim by the Harvey supporters. There are likely people who have a bone to pick with Clemons but that’s no reason to not re-hire Clemons. Good man, job well done.
