Community facility would benefit us all
With the end of the growing season and the harvest in many are canning the fruits of their labors — difficult for many with limited resources, electricity, small kitchens and supplies.
Wouldn’t it be nice to help ourselves as a community to build, buy, rent, or donate a building to be used as a community canning center, equipped with work tables, stoves, and canning supplies. Even volunteers to help those with limited know-how. Locally-grown veggies, fruit and preserves help many survive throughout the year. The food bank could also benefit from such a facility.
Logistics, scheduling, cleaning, and supplies would have to be addressed once such a facility is made available.
Who would be interested in using such a facility? What business, club, organization or individual would be interested in putting this together?
This kind of facility exists in many cities and towns across the country. Why not here?
